WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — A surging Long Island men’s basketball team looks to continue its climb in the Northeast standings when it visits a struggling New Haven squad on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Charger Gymnasium. The Sharks (17-8) enter on a five-game winning streak, including a 67-57 road victory at Wagner on Thursday. They also defeated these same Chargers 60-55 at home on Feb. 5. Long Island has been anchored by its defense, holding opponents to an average of 58.2 points during the win streak. Guard Jomo Goings is Long Island’s catalyst. He is coming off a career-high 26-point performance at Wagner and has scored in double figures in seven of his last nine games. His backcourt play will be central to the Sharks’ attack. New Haven (10-15) seeks to halt a three-game skid and gain revenge for the earlier loss. The Chargers fell 81-76 at home to Central Connecticut on Thursday despite a strong outing from guard Jabri Fitzpatrick, who had 20 points and six assists. Fitzpatrick, the team’s offensive engine, averaged 18 points in his last three games and scored 17 in the first meeting with Long Island. The matchup pits one of the conference’s hottest teams against one searching for consistency. Long Island’s recent success has been built on balanced scoring and stout defense, while New Haven has relied heavily on Fitzpatrick’s creation. The Chargers will need more secondary scoring to keep pace, particularly from Maison Adeleye and Andre Pasha, who combined for 31 points in the last outing. A victory would solidify Long Island’s position in the upper tier of the conference, while New Haven aims to use its home court to split the season series and build momentum for the final stretch. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. The game is organized by the Northeast Conference.
