Preview: Hawaii Warriors at Cal State Northridge Matadors LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A key Big West Conference men’s basketball matchup is set for Saturday, February 14, 2026, as the first-place Hawaii Warriors visit the Cal State Northridge Matadors at the Matadome. The Warriors (17-5, 8-2 Big West) enter with a two-game lead in the conference standings and have won four of their last five. Their most recent victory was a 72-67 home win over UC San Diego on Feb. 7. The Matadors (15-10, 6-5), winners of four straight, are looking to close the gap and avenge a decisive loss in Honolulu just three weeks ago. Hawaii dominated the previous meeting on Jan. 24, winning 89-68. Warriors forward Isaac Johnson was highly efficient in that contest, scoring 18 points in just 15 minutes. Johnson, a key player to watch, is averaging 15.3 points over his last six games, including a 20-point performance against UC San Diego. Cal State Northridge has surged since that loss, however. The Matadors’ winning streak includes an 88-74 victory over UC Riverside last Saturday. Guard Mahmoud Fofana leads their balanced attack, averaging 16.2 points over the last six contests. He was held to 14 points in the first meeting with Hawaii and will be central to the Matadors’ efforts to reverse that result on their home floor. Hawaii’s strength lies in its consistent scoring and defense, having held opponents under 70 points in three of its last five wins. Cal State Northridge has showcased a potent offense during its streak, averaging 90 points per game over its last four. A victory for the Warriors would solidify their hold on the conference lead, while the Matadors aim to continue their hot streak and improve their seeding for the upcoming Big West tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at the Matadome on the campus of Cal State Northridge.
