Preview: Georgia Tech at Notre Dame SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking to halt lengthy slides will meet Saturday when Georgia Tech visits Notre Dame in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball matchup. The Yellow Jackets (11-14) and Fighting Irish (11-14) enter with identical records and both mired in losing streaks. Georgia Tech has dropped five consecutive games following an 83-67 home loss to Wake Forest on Wednesday. Notre Dame has lost four straight, most recently an 89-81 defeat at SMU on Tuesday. The game tips off at 2 p.m. EST at the Joyce Athletic Center. A key matchup will feature two of the conference’s top scoring guards. Georgia Tech’s Kowacie Reeves is averaging 16.8 points over his last six games, including an 18-point performance against Wake Forest. Notre Dame will counter with freshman Jalen Haralson, who has scored 20 or more points in three of his last five outings. Haralson poured in 23 points at SMU and had 26 in a loss at Syracuse on Jan. 31. Both teams have struggled defensively during their skids. Georgia Tech has allowed an average of 82.4 points during its five-game losing streak. Notre Dame has yielded 86.5 points per game in its last four defeats, including a 100-97 double-overtime loss to Virginia on Jan. 27. The Irish won the season’s first meeting, 75-68, in Atlanta on Jan. 7 behind 19 points from Markus Burton. That game ignited Notre Dame’s current home winning streak in the series, which stands at three games. With both teams sitting at 4-10 in ACC play, the game represents a critical opportunity to gain momentum before the conference tournament. The loser will face an increasingly steep climb to avoid finishing in the league’s basement. For Georgia Tech, Baye Ndongo provides an interior presence, coming off a 14-point game against Wake Forest. Notre Dame’s Braeden Shrewsberry, who scored 16 against SMU, offers perimeter shooting to complement Haralson’s slashing attacks. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
