WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Interstat) — A quick rematch with potential Colonial Athletic Association tournament seeding implications is set for Saturday when the William & Mary Tribe hosts the Elon Phoenix at Kaplan Arena. The matchup comes just over two weeks after Elon (13-13, 4-9 CAA) edged William & Mary 79-76 at home on Jan. 29. The Tribe (16-9, 8-5) will look to defend its home court and solidify its position in the conference’s upper tier, while the Phoenix aims to sweep the season series and climb back to .500. Elon enters on a four-game skid, including a 54-65 loss at UNC Wilmington on Thursday. The Phoenix has relied heavily on guard Isaac Harrell, who is coming off a 25-point, 7-rebound performance in a narrow loss to Drexel on Feb. 7. In the Jan. 29 win over William & Mary, Harrell contributed 13 points. William & Mary, meanwhile, is riding high after a dominant 94-67 road victory at Northeastern on Thursday. The Tribe’s bench provided a major spark, led by guard Cade Haskins’ 17 points in 25 minutes. Haskins also scored 12 points in the earlier loss to Elon. The Tribe has been strong at home in conference play, while Elon has struggled on the road. William & Mary’s balanced attack, which saw Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi dish out six assists and Ryan Jackson add 14 points against Northeastern, will test an Elon defense that has allowed 80.3 points per game during its losing streak. Saturday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the two teams in Williamsburg this season. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. EST.
