Preview: Columbia Lions at Princeton Tigers PRINCETON, N.J. (Interstat) — The Columbia Lions look to solidify their position in the Ivy League standings and avenge a recent loss when they visit the struggling Princeton Tigers on Saturday at Jadwin Gymnasium. Columbia (14-9) enters the contest having lost three of its last four, including a 76-67 defeat at Penn on Friday night. The Lions boast a winning record but have stumbled in conference play. They will lean heavily on guard Kenny Noland, who scored 22 points in the loss to Penn and has been a consistent offensive force. Noland averaged 21.5 points in two games last week, including a 21-point effort in the previous meeting with Princeton. Princeton (8-16) seeks to halt a three-game skid after a dispiriting 89-65 home loss to Cornell on Friday. The Tigers’ season has been defined by narrow defeats, with five of their conference losses coming by single digits. Guard Dalen Davis is coming off a 19-point performance against Cornell and will be key to Princeton’s hopes. Davis was held to just four points in 13 minutes during the Tigers’ 80-68 win at Columbia on Jan. 31. In that Jan. 31 matchup, Princeton used a balanced attack to secure one of its two Ivy victories this season. Columbia will aim for a different result by controlling the tempo and limiting Princeton’s secondary scorers. The game represents a critical pivot point for both teams’ conference trajectories. Columbia aims to keep pace near the top of the league, while Princeton desperately needs a win to build momentum for the final stretch. The Tigers have shown they can beat the Lions, but replicating that at home after a blowout loss presents a significant mental challenge. Saturday’s matinee at Jadwin Gymnasium is scheduled for a 2 p.m. EST tip-off.
