ST. GEORGE, Utah (Interstat) — A surging California Baptist looks to complete a regular-season sweep of Utah Tech when the Lancers visit the Trailblazers in a Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup Saturday at Burns Arena. The Lancers (18-6, 8-2 WAC) enter on a five-game winning streak, including a 65-63 victory over Abilene Christian last Saturday. They have won both meetings against Utah Tech this season, a 73-64 home win on Jan. 21 and an 84-72 victory on Jan. 8. California Baptist is powered by guard Dominique Daniels, who is coming off a 21-point, five-assist performance against Abilene Christian. Daniels torched the Trailblazers for 26 points and five assists in the January meeting and is averaging 26.6 points per game over his last five contests, including a 47-point outburst against Utah Valley on Jan. 24. Utah Tech (14-11, 5-5) aims to halt that momentum and protect its home court, where it is 9-3 this season. The Trailblazers are coming off an 87-84 double-overtime thriller against Texas-Arlington on Feb. 5, led by Chance Trujillo’s 22 points. Trujillo, a key guard, has scored in double figures in five of his last six games but was held to seven points in the loss at California Baptist. The Trailblazers have won three of their last four games overall, showing improved form since the start of conference play. They will need a stronger defensive effort against Daniels and the Lancers’ efficient offense, which has found ways to win close games, with three victories in their streak coming by three points or fewer. Saturday’s contest is critical for WAC standings positioning as the regular season enters its final weeks. California Baptist seeks to solidify its place atop the conference, while Utah Tech looks to climb into the upper tier and avenge its earlier defeats. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
