ALBANY, N.Y. (Interstat) â Two America East menâs basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Albany Great Danes visit the Binghamton Bearcats at the Events Center in Vestal. The conference matchup features struggling squads, with Albany entering at 8-17 overall and Binghamton at 5-21. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Feb. 14. Albany won the seasonâs first meeting 69-53 at home on Jan. 15. The Great Danes are coming off an 89-79 home loss to Massachusetts-Lowell on Feb. 7, despite 23 points and seven assists from guard Amir Lindsey. Lindsey has been a consistent force, averaging over 38 minutes per game in his last seven contests and scoring 20 or more points three times in that span. Binghamton has lost three straight, most recently a 73-65 home defeat to Vermont on Thursday. Guard Jeremiah Quigley paced the Bearcats with 14 points and seven assists, continuing his heavy workload. Quigley has logged 40 minutes in three of his last four games and recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in a loss to Maryland-Baltimore County on Feb. 5. Both teams rely heavily on their primary ball-handlers. Lindsey leads Albanyâs offense, while Quigley is central to Binghamtonâs attack. The team that finds more secondary scoring may gain the edge. Albanyâs recent results show narrow losses, including a 68-65 defeat to UMBC on Jan. 31 and a 52-49 loss at Maine on Jan. 22. Binghamtonâs season has been marked by close calls, including a 60-59 loss to Vermont on Jan. 8 and a triple-overtime, 88-82 setback at New Hampshire on Jan. 22. Following this game, Albany will visit NJIT on Feb. 19. Binghamtonâs next contest is at Bryant on Feb. 19.
