INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Interstat) — A Coastal Athletic Association matchup with postseason implications unfolds in an unusual venue Friday when Hampton hosts North Carolina A&T at Intuit Dome. The Pirates (12-13) and Aggies (9-14) will meet on a neutral court in Inglewood, California, far from their East Coast campuses, for a late-season conference clash. Hampton seeks a season sweep after dominating the first meeting, an 82-61 home victory on Jan. 19. That game is part of a challenging stretch for North Carolina A&T, which has lost seven of its last nine games. The Aggies are coming off a 79-71 home loss to Campbell on Feb. 7. Guard Will Felton has been a bright spot, averaging 10.1 points over his last eight contests. He scored 15 points with six rebounds against Campbell and had nine points in the January loss to Hampton. Hampton has shown resilience, winning two of its last three, including a 77-74 victory over William & Mary last Saturday. Forward Xzavier Long was pivotal in that win, posting 13 points and 14 rebounds. He also contributed seven points and three assists in the January win over the Aggies. Long has recorded double-digit rebounds in three of his last five outings. The game represents a chance for both teams to build momentum ahead of the conference tournament. Hampton currently sits in the middle of the CAA standings, while North Carolina A&T looks to climb out of the lower tier. After this contest, Hampton continues its road swing with games at Hofstra and Stony Brook next week. North Carolina A&T returns home to face College of Charleston on Feb. 19. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. PST Friday at Intuit Dome.
