Preview: Tennessee Tech at Morehead State HALDEMAN, Ky. (Interstat) — Ohio Valley Conference rivals meet Thursday night as the Morehead State Eagles host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles at E.T. Johnson Arena. Morehead State (13-12) enters the contest looking to complete a regular-season sweep after defeating Tennessee Tech (10-15) 76-70 in Cookeville on Jan. 17. The home Eagles have won three of their last five games, most recently a 61-55 road victory at Tennessee-Martin on Feb. 7. Tennessee Tech seeks to snap a two-game skid following a 54-60 home loss to Eastern Illinois on that same date. The Golden Eagles’ offense has fluctuated, scoring 90 or more points in two recent wins but being held under 70 in three of their last four losses. A key matchup will feature two of the league’s top scorers. Tennessee Tech’s JaJuan Nicholls is averaging 17.1 points over his last seven games, including a 23-point performance against Eastern Illinois. The guard has been a consistent offensive catalyst for the Golden Eagles. Morehead State counters with guard George Marshall, who scored 16 points and dished four assists in the January win over Tennessee Tech. Marshall is coming off a 16-point, three-assist effort in the win over UT Martin and has reached double-figure scoring in seven of his last eight contests. The game is critical for conference tournament positioning. Morehead State sits in the middle of the OVC standings, while Tennessee Tech aims to climb out of the lower tier. Home court has been an advantage in the series; Morehead State has won the last three meetings in Haldeman. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Thursday. Morehead State will host Tennessee State on Saturday, while Tennessee Tech travels to face Southern Indiana on Valentine’s Day.
