Tigers, Screaming Eagles Set for OVC Rematch EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — A surging Tennessee State team looks to continue its climb in the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it visits struggling Southern Indiana on Thursday night at the Physical Activities Center. The Tigers (16-8) have won four of their last five, including an 83-56 rout of Western Illinois last Saturday. Southern Indiana (5-18) seeks to halt a five-game skid, most recently a 90-65 loss at Southeast Missouri State. Tennessee State won the first meeting this season, 73-67 at home on Jan. 17. A key figure in that victory, Tigers guard Aaron Nkrumah, enters this rematch in stellar form. Over his last eight games, Nkrumah is averaging 21.4 points, including a 30-point outing in overtime against Morehead State and 24 points in the previous win over Southern Indiana. He scored 16 points in 24 minutes off the bench in Saturday’s win. The Screaming Eagles will counter with guard Ismail Habib, who scored 20 points in the loss to Southeast Missouri. Habib had 12 points and four assists in the January loss at Tennessee State. Southern Indiana’s last win was a 96-64 home victory over Western Illinois on Jan. 23. Since then, they have averaged just 56.6 points per game during their losing streak. Tennessee State’s recent success has been fueled by efficient offense, scoring 77 points or more in six of their last eight contests. Beyond Nkrumah, forward Antoine Lorick added 18 points in the latest win. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. EST as part of the conference’s Thursday night slate. Tennessee State visits Morehead State on Saturday. Southern Indiana hosts Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
