LEE, N.H. (Interstat) — A surging NJIT looks to continue its climb in the America East standings when it visits struggling New Hampshire on Thursday night at Lundholm Gym. The Highlanders (13-12) have won five of their last six games, including a 73-64 victory over Binghamton last Saturday. They currently sit above .500 overall and are finding form in conference play. NJIT is led by guard Ari Fulton, who is averaging 17.1 points over his last seven contests. He is coming off a 21-point performance against Binghamton and posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in a key road win at Vermont on Jan. 31. The Wildcats (8-14) have lost two straight and six of their last eight. They are coming off an 80-57 road loss to Vermont. Forward Comeh Emuobor has been a bright spot, scoring in double figures in three of his last five games, including a 12-point, six-rebound effort against the Catamounts. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. NJIT won the first matchup 80-76 at home on Jan. 8. In that game, the Highlanders withstood a late Wildcats rally to secure the victory. The Wildcats will aim to protect their home court, where they are 6-4 this season, including conference wins over Albany and Massachusetts-Lowell in January. NJIT, however, has shown improved road prowess with recent wins at Vermont and Albany during its hot streak. For New Hampshire, containing Fulton will be a primary defensive focus. The Wildcats will likely look to Emuobor and Belal El Shakery, who had 10 points and seven rebounds against Vermont, to provide interior production. The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST as part of a full slate of America East action. NJIT visits Maine on Saturday, while New Hampshire hosts Maryland-Baltimore County.
