Preview: Murray State at Indiana State TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Interstat) β The Murray State Racers look to rebound from a lopsided loss and solidify their Missouri Valley Conference standing when they visit the Indiana State Sycamores on Thursday night. Murray State (18-8) enters Hulman Center following a 60-89 home defeat to Northern Iowa on Monday, a game in which the Racers allowed a season-high in points. Prior to that, they had won two straight. Indiana State (10-15) has lost three of its last four, including an 80-65 home loss to Southern Illinois on Monday. The Racers, who sit near the top of the MVC, will rely on forward Fredrick King, who has been a consistent offensive force. King is averaging 16.1 points over his last eight games, including a 22-point performance at Belmont and a 14-point, 4-block effort in the first meeting against Indiana State this season. The Sycamores, seeking to climb out of the leagueβs lower tier, are led by guard Ian Scott. He scored 14 points in the Jan. 17 matchup at Murray State, an 85-81 Racers victory. Scott is averaging 11.6 points over his last eight contests. In that previous meeting, Murray State held off a late Indiana State push. The Sycamores will look to avenge that loss on their home floor, where they are 7-6 this season. Murray State is 5-5 in true road games. The game is a key conference matchup as the regular season enters its final weeks. Murray State aims to keep pace for a high seed in the MVC tournament, while Indiana State looks to build momentum and improve its positioning. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST Thursday at Hulman Center.
