BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Hawaii men’s basketball team looks to continue its push atop the Big West Conference standings when it visits struggling Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026. The Warriors (17-5, 8-2 Big West) enter the Icardo Center having won seven of their last eight games, including a 72-67 home victory over UC San Diego last Saturday. In contrast, the Roadrunners (8-17, 2-9) are mired in a six-game losing streak, most recently an 82-66 defeat at Cal State Fullerton. Hawaii, which sits in second place in the conference, dominated the first meeting this season, routing Cal State Bakersfield 98-71 in Honolulu on Jan. 22. A key performer in that win, and all season for the Warriors, has been forward Isaac Johnson. He scored 12 points in just 15 minutes against the Roadrunners last month and is coming off a 20-point effort against UC San Diego. Over his last eight games, Johnson is averaging 14.6 points while playing efficient, high-energy minutes. Cal State Bakersfield will lean on guard Ronald Jessamy to try and snap its skid. Jessamy has been a bright spot during the losing streak, averaging 16.3 points over his last four contests. He scored 19 points and dished five assists in the loss to Fullerton. The Roadrunners will need a much stronger defensive performance to challenge Hawaii, having allowed an average of 86.2 points during their six-game slide. Hawaii’s offense, which averages over 78 points per game in conference play, presents a significant challenge. Thursday’s matchup is the first of a critical two-game road trip for Hawaii, which plays at Cal State Northridge on Saturday. Cal State Bakersfield begins a stretch of four out of five games at home, seeking to improve its positioning before the conference tournament. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PST.
