Preview: Delaware Looks to Build on OT Win at Florida International WESTCHESTER, Fla. (Interstat) — The Delaware Blue Hens will aim to carry momentum from a dramatic overtime victory into a Conference USA road test against the Florida International Golden Panthers on Thursday night. Delaware (7-16) snapped a two-game skid with an 89-88 home win over Middle Tennessee last Saturday. The Blue Hens needed a career-high 27 points from guard Justyn Fernandez, who also added eight rebounds and four assists while playing all 45 minutes. Christian Bliss complemented him with 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Fernandez has been Delaware’s consistent offensive catalyst, averaging over 18 points per game in his last seven contests. His heavy workload underscores his importance to a team seeking its first road win since Jan. 28. Florida International (11-12) looks to rebound at home after a 70-80 loss at Western Kentucky. The Golden Panthers have shown resilience, including an 88-84 overtime win at Middle Tennessee on Feb. 4. Guard Zawdie Jackson leads the backcourt, coming off a 17-point performance against the Hilltoppers. Forward Eric Dibami provides an interior presence, posting 14 points and six rebounds in the same game. The matchup features two teams in the lower tier of the Conference USA standings trying to build consistency in the final month of the regular season. Delaware ranks last in the conference, while FIU sits just two spots higher. The Golden Panthers won the season’s first meeting, 76-64, in Newark on Jan. 8. Jackson scored 15 points in that contest, while Fernandez was held to 11 for Delaware. FIU holds a 7-4 record at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center this season. Delaware is 1-10 in true road games. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. EST. Following this contest, Delaware travels to face Missouri State on Saturday, while Florida International hosts Louisiana Tech.
