FLORENCE, Ala. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday afternoon when the West Georgia Wolves visit the North Alabama Lions at Flowers Hall. West Georgia (11-13) enters on the heels of an 87-73 home victory over Jacksonville on Saturday. The Wolves have shown inconsistency, alternating wins and losses over their past six games. North Alabama (7-16) looks to halt a three-game skid, most recently a 72-65 home loss to Central Arkansas on Monday. A key matchup will feature West Georgia’s interior presence against North Alabama’s backcourt scoring. Wolves forward JaVar Daniel is coming off a dominant double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds against Jacksonville, part of a stretch where he has been a force as a scorer and shot-blocker. For the Lions, guard Donte Bacchus has been a consistent offensive bright spot, averaging 18.0 points over his last five contests, including a 23-point effort in a win at Stetson on Jan. 31. West Georgia’s attack is bolstered by Shelton Williams-Dryden, who posted 24 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Jacksonville. North Alabama will counter with Braylon Patton, who added 12 points off the bench in its last outing. The Wolves won the first meeting this season, 85-73, in Carrollton on Jan. 8. This rematch in Florence offers the Lions a chance for home-court revenge. Both teams are in the lower half of the conference standings and will be desperate for a win to build confidence for the final stretch of the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Wednesday. The teams will conclude their regular-season series in Carrollton on Feb. 28.
