Preview: North Florida Ospreys at Florida Gulf Coast Eagles FORT MYERS, Fla. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles host the North Florida Ospreys at Alico Arena. The Eagles (10-15) enter the contest having lost three of their last four, including a 65-81 defeat at Bellarmine on Saturday. Guard JR Konieczny has been a bright spot, averaging 13.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists over his last four games. He nearly posted a triple-double in the loss to Bellarmine, finishing with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The visiting Ospreys (6-19) have struggled throughout the season but are coming off a split in their last two road games, including an 81-73 win at West Georgia on Feb. 5. They fell 72-91 at Queens (N.C.) on Saturday. North Florida is led by Mason Lee, who has scored in double figures in five of his last eight contests. He recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in a narrow 94-100 loss to Lipscomb on Jan. 31. Florida Gulf Coast won the first meeting this season, 72-55, at North Alabama on Jan. 3. Wednesday’s game is the first of two scheduled matchups between the programs in February, with the rematch set for Feb. 26 in Jacksonville. Both teams are near the bottom of the ASUN standings and will be looking to build confidence ahead of the conference tournament. The Eagles have fared better at home this season, while the Ospreys have managed only two road victories. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
