SAN MARCOS, Texas (Interstat) — A pivotal Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball clash is set for Wednesday night when the Troy Trojans visit the Texas State Bobcats at Strahan Coliseum. The matchup features two of the league’s hotter teams entering the final stretch of the regular season. Troy (17-8) has won three straight and seven of its last nine, while Texas State (15-11) has won four consecutive games. The Trojans, who won the season’s first meeting 100-80 on Dec. 31, are led by guard Cooper Campbell. He is coming off a season-high 25-point performance in a 79-69 win over Akron on Saturday. Over his last eight games, Campbell is averaging 10.8 points and 4.5 assists, serving as a key facilitator for a potent Troy offense. Texas State counters with its own dynamic guard in Mark Drone. He scored 20 points in the Bobcats’ 77-61 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday and has been a consistent force, averaging 14.9 points over his last seven contests. His versatility was on full display in a Jan. 31 win over Old Dominion, where he nearly posted a triple-double with 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Both teams have shown recent defensive improvement. Troy held its last two opponents under 70 points, and Texas State has limited its last four foes to an average of 66.5 points per game during its winning streak. A victory would bolster the conference tournament seeding for either squad. Troy currently holds the better overall record, but the Bobcats will have the home-court advantage in what promises to be a tightly contested rematch. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
