Preview: Penn State Nittany Lions at Washington Huskies SEATTLE (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the middle of the Big Ten schedule will meet Wednesday night when the Penn State Nittany Lions visit the Washington Huskies at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. Penn State (10-14) arrives after a heartbreaking 77-75 home loss to Southern California on Sunday, its eighth defeat in the last nine games. The Nittany Lions have struggled defensively, allowing an average of 86.4 points in their last five contests. Washington (12-12) has also found consistency elusive, dropping its last two games, including a 73-77 decision at UCLA on Saturday. The Huskies are 8-5 at home this season. The matchup features two of the conference’s top scoring guards. Penn State will lean on Freddie Dilione V, who is averaging 21.3 points over his last three games. He scored 23 points with four rebounds and four assists in the narrow loss to USC. Washington counters with Wesley Yates, who has shouldered a heavy offensive load. He logged 40 minutes and scored 21 points against UCLA and is averaging 19.0 points over his last three outings. Penn State’s recent struggles have been compounded by defensive lapses, most notably in a 110-69 road loss to Michigan on Feb. 5. Washington has shown flashes, including a 76-62 win at Northwestern on Jan. 31, but has followed strong performances with letdowns. The Huskies won the first meeting as conference foes, 81-74, on Jan. 11, 2025, in State College. For both programs, this game represents a critical opportunity to halt negative trends and build confidence before the final stretch of the regular season. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. EST Wednesday.
