NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) ā A surging Eastern Kentucky looks to build on its best win of the season when it visits a Lipscomb squad seeking to regain its footing in ASUN Conference play on Wednesday night at Allen Arena. The Colonels (9-16, 5-5 ASUN) are coming off a 100-88 home victory over Stetson on Saturday, their second straight win. Guard MJ Williams led the way with 22 points and seven assists, continuing a strong stretch where he has averaged 14.2 points and 6.0 assists over his last eight games. Juan Cranford added 23 points and Montavious Myrick had 19 in the offensive outburst. The Bisons (15-10, 6-4), however, have dropped two consecutive games, including a 78-86 home loss to Central Arkansas on Saturday. Standout forward Grant Asman scored 25 points in that defeat and has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 17.1 points over his last eight contests. Lipscomb won the seasonās first meeting, 84-77, in Richmond on Jan. 10. Asman scored 21 points in that game. The matchup features contrasting trajectories. Eastern Kentucky, despite its sub-.500 overall record, has won three of its last five to climb to .500 in the conference. Lipscomb, after a 5-1 start in ASUN play, has gone 1-3 in its last four league games, with all three losses coming at home. Allen Arena has been a house of horrors for visitors this season, with Lipscomb holding a 10-2 home record. Eastern Kentucky is just 2-9 in true road games. Williamsā playmaking for the Colonels against Asmanās scoring punch for the Bisons will be a key tactical battle. Eastern Kentucky will need another efficient offensive performance to overcome Lipscombās home-court advantage and even the season series. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. EST.
