Preview: Creighton Bluejays at DePaul Blue Demons ROSEMONT, Ill. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking consistency in the middle of the Big East standings will meet Wednesday when the Creighton Bluejays visit the DePaul Blue Demons at Allstate Arena. Creighton (13-11 overall) arrives after a narrow 69-68 home victory over Seton Hall on Saturday, a result that snapped a three-game losing streak. The Bluejays have struggled on the road in conference play, however, dropping their last three away games by an average of 16 points. DePaul (12-12) looks to halt a four-game skid, most recently a 90-72 loss at Providence. The Blue Demons have been strong at home in Rosemont, winning three of their last four Big East contests there, including an 80-75 victory over then-Marquette on Jan. 16. A key matchup will feature emerging scorers from each side. Creighton sophomore forward Isaac Traudt is coming off a season-high 18 points in 24 minutes off the bench against Seton Hall. His scoring punch has been variable, but he provides a spark when his shot is falling. For DePaul, guard Brandon Maclin has been a steady offensive force, averaging 14.2 points over his last six games. He led the Blue Demons with 17 points in the loss to Providence and scored 19 in a road game at Georgetown last month. His ability to penetrate will test Creighton’s perimeter defense. Both teams sit with .500-or-near records in a crowded Big East, making this a pivotal game for postseason positioning. Creighton won the season’s first meeting in Omaha, 89-86, on Jan. 3. The rematch offers DePaul a chance to level the series on its home floor. The Bluejays will rely on starters Jasen Green and Josh Dix, who combined for 27 points in the win over Seton Hall, to complement Traudt’s bench production. DePaul will need contributions beyond Maclin, with forwards NJ Benson and Kaleb Banks providing interior support. Wednesday’s winner will gain a valuable conference victory and momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST.
