Preview: Connecticut at Butler INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Connecticut Huskies look to quickly rebound from a rare setback when they visit the Butler Bulldogs in a Big East men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. UConn (22-2, 12-1 Big East) saw its 10-game winning streak snapped in a 72-81 road loss at Saint John’s on Feb. 6. The Huskies, whose only other loss came in nonconference play, remain firmly in the conference driver’s seat but face a challenging environment on the road. Butler (13-11, 5-8) has struggled for consistency, dropping four of its last five, including a 55-70 defeat at Marquette on Saturday. The Bulldogs will need a signature victory to bolster their postseason resume, and a home upset of the reigning national champions would qualify. The Huskies are led by forward Alex Karaban, who is averaging 13.4 points and 4.1 assists in conference play. He scored 17 points in the loss to Saint John’s and has been a versatile offensive catalyst. He will be supported by a deep roster featuring guards Silas Demary Jr. and Tarris Reed Jr., who combined for 30 points in the last outing. Butler’s hopes likely rest with high-scoring guard Finley Bizjack. He is averaging 22.3 points over his last six games, including a 30-point effort in a double-overtime loss at Providence on Feb. 4. He logged 40 minutes and scored 23 points in the loss to Marquette. Forward Michael Ajayi is coming off a 19-rebound performance and will be critical on the glass. UConn dominated the first meeting this season, a 79-60 home win on Dec. 16. The Huskies have won seven straight in the series. The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. EST Wednesday. UConn visits Georgetown next on Saturday, while Butler hosts Seton Hall on Sunday.
