Preview: Colgate Looks to Sweep Season Series at Holy Cross WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — The surging Colgate Raiders visit the Holy Cross Crusaders in a Patriot League men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night at the Hart Recreation Center. Colgate (15-10) enters on a three-game winning streak, including a 78-59 road victory at Bucknell last Saturday. The Raiders have won seven of their last nine contests. Holy Cross (9-16) snapped a five-game skid with a 76-67 home win over Lehigh on Feb. 7. The Raiders won the first meeting this season, 79-74, at home on Jan. 28. Colgate guard Jalen Cox was instrumental in that victory, scoring 16 points and dishing eight assists. Cox is playing at an elite level, coming off a 14-point, 12-rebound, six-assist performance against Bucknell. Over his last eight games, the dynamic guard is averaging 18.1 points, 6.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds. Holy Cross will counter with forward Aiden Disu, who is coming off one of his best games of the season. In the win over Lehigh, Disu posted 21 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. His production has been variable, however; he was held to just four points in the loss at Colgate last month. The Raiders have found success in close games, with four of their last seven wins decided by five points or fewer or in overtime. Their offense has averaged 79.6 points during their recent 7-2 stretch. Holy Cross, which has struggled defensively, allowing 72.3 points per game, will need a consistent effort to contain Colgate’s balanced attack. Beyond Cox, Andrew Alekseyenko (16 points, seven rebounds, six assists vs. Bucknell) and Josh Ahayere (15 points) have provided key contributions. For the Crusaders, support for Disu will be crucial. Gabe Warren (20 points vs. Lehigh) and Tyler Boston (15 points, five assists) are capable secondary scorers who must produce. A win would bolster Colgate’s position in the Patriot League standings as it pursues a top seed for the conference tournament. Holy Cross seeks to build momentum from its latest victory and level the season series on its home floor. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
