MANHATTAN, Kan. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the back half of the Big 12 schedule will meet Wednesday night when the Cincinnati Bearcats visit the Kansas State Wildcats at Bramlage Coliseum. Both squads enter with sub-.500 overall records. Cincinnati (12-12) evened its mark with a dominant 92-72 home victory over UCF on Sunday. Kansas State (10-13) is looking to rebound from a narrow 84-82 road loss to TCU last Saturday, its fourth defeat in five games. The matchup features a compelling duel at guard. Cincinnati’s Baba Miller is coming off a 17-point, five-assist performance against UCF and has been a consistent offensive catalyst, scoring 15 or more points in five of his last eight contests. His versatility will be key for the Bearcats’ attack. Kansas State will counter with floor general Nate Johnson, who nearly posted a triple-double against TCU with 13 points, 11 assists and four rebounds. His playmaking will be vital for a Wildcats offense that has struggled at times, failing to reach 65 points in three of its last five outings. Cincinnati has shown a pattern of following losses with wins recently, alternating results over its last six games. After a loss to West Virginia on Feb. 5, they routed UCF. Kansas State, meanwhile, has found wins elusive in conference play, with its only January victory an 81-78 home decision over Utah. The Bearcats won the first meeting this season, 77-68, in Cincinnati on Jan. 14 behind 25 points from Miller. Johnson managed seven points and 10 assists for the Wildcats in that contest. Wednesday’s game offers a critical opportunity for both teams to build confidence. For Cincinnati, it’s a chance to string together consecutive conference wins for the first time since early January. For Kansas State, it represents a needed home stand opportunity to stop a skid before a difficult road test at Houston this weekend. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
