(Interstat) — A surging Central Arkansas squad looks to continue its climb up the ASUN Conference standings when it hosts a Bellarmine team riding its own wave of momentum Wednesday night at the Farris Center. The Bears (15-10) have won seven consecutive games, their latest a 72-65 road victory at North Alabama on Monday. The streak has transformed their season, pushing them well above .500 after a 7-10 start. Guard Camren Hunter has been the catalyst, averaging 27.4 points over his last five contests. He erupted for 32 points in wins over Lipscomb and Eastern Kentucky during the run. Bellarmine (11-13) has found its rhythm after a difficult stretch, winning four of its last five games. The Knights are coming off an 81-65 home victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday. Forward Jack Karasinski has led the charge, averaging 20.2 points over the last six games. He scored 23 points in the win over FGCU and had 26 in a 92-71 rout of Stetson last Thursday. This matchup is a quick rematch of a thrilling Jan. 8 meeting in Louisville, which Bellarmine won 84-78 in overtime. The Knights will aim for a regular-season sweep, while the Bears seek revenge on their home floor. Central Arkansas’s defense has tightened during its win streak, holding opponents to an average of 71.1 points during the run. Containing Karasinski and Bellarmine’s efficient offense, which has averaged 81.8 points in its last five outings, will be a key test. Bellarmine’s challenge will be slowing Hunter, who has scored 28 or more points in four of the last five games. The Knights’ recent improved form has kept them in the conference tournament picture, and a road win over a top-tier ASUN opponent would significantly bolster their position.
