Preview: Arkansas looks to sweep LSU in SEC rematch BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — A surging Arkansas looks to complete a regular-season sweep of LSU when the Razorbacks visit the Tigers in a Southeastern Conference men’s basketball clash Tuesday night at the Maravich Assembly Center. Arkansas (17-6, 7-3 SEC) enters with momentum from a dominant 88-68 road win at Mississippi State last Saturday. The Razorbacks have won four of their last five, with the lone loss a narrow defeat to then-Kentucky. LSU (14-9, 4-6), meanwhile, seeks to halt a two-game skid after falling 83-71 to Georgia at home. The teams met just over two weeks ago in Fayetteville, with Arkansas holding on for an 85-81 victory. That Jan. 24 contest figures to fuel the Tigers, who have dropped three of their last four. A key matchup will feature Arkansas forward Trevon Brazile against LSU guard Max Mackinnon. Brazile is coming off a stellar all-around performance against Mississippi State, posting 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Over his last five games, the versatile big man is averaging 13.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. Mackinnon has been a bright spot for LSU during its recent struggles, averaging 20.3 points over his last three outings. He scored a game-high 26 in the loss to Georgia and had 14 points and three assists in the earlier loss to Arkansas. The Razorbacks’ offense, which put up 108 points against South Carolina last month, is averaging 84.2 points in conference play. LSU’s defense, which has allowed 80 or more points in four of its last six games, will be tested. For LSU, a win would provide a crucial Quadrant 1 boost to its fading NCAA tournament resume. For Arkansas, which sits just one game back of first place in the SEC, it’s a chance to solidify its standing and build momentum for a tough closing stretch that includes games against Auburn, Alabama and Texas. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
