Preview: Texas Southern Tigers at Bethune-Cookman Wildcats DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Bethune-Cookman squad will look to continue its climb in the SWAC standings when it hosts a Texas Southern team seeking consistency on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Moore Gymnasium. The Wildcats (12-11, 8-2 SWAC) enter on a season-best seven-game winning streak, their latest an 82-76 victory over Prairie View on Saturday. They have not lost since Jan. 12. The Tigers (7-14, 5-5), meanwhile, have alternated wins and losses over their last six contests, coming off a 62-57 road win at Florida A&M. The matchup features two of the conference’s top offensive talents. Bethune-Cookman is powered by guard Jakobi Heady, who is averaging 22.1 points during the winning streak. He scored a season-high 30 points in Saturday’s win. Texas Southern counters with forward Troy Hupstead, who has scored in double figures in 12 straight games. Hupstead poured in 24 points in the win over Florida A&M and recorded a 10-point, 16-rebound double-double against Alabama State on Jan. 27. Bethune-Cookman’s success has been built on efficient offense, averaging 78.2 points during its streak. Quentin Heady (17 points) and Arterio Morris provided key support in the last outing. Texas Southern relies heavily on its core trio; alongside Hupstead, Jaylen Wysinger and Bryce Roberts combined for 25 points in the Florida A&M win. Historically, Texas Southern has been a power in the SWAC, but this season’s struggles have them in the middle of the pack. The Wildcats, under fourth-year coach Reggie Theus, are in the midst of their most successful conference run in recent years and will look to protect their home court, where they are 7-2 this season. Monday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the teams this regular season. Following this game, Bethune-Cookman hits the road for two games, starting at Alcorn State on Feb. 14. Texas Southern returns home to host Grambling on Feb. 14. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
