Preview: Southern Illinois at Indiana State TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams with identical records and fading postseason hopes will meet Monday night when Southern Illinois visits Indiana State in a Missouri Valley Conference matchup. The Salukis (10-14) and Sycamores (10-14) will tip off at 7 p.m. EST at Hulman Center, both looking to build momentum for the final stretch of the regular season. Each squad sits at 4-7 in conference play, mired in the bottom half of the league standings. Southern Illinois arrives after a 91-81 home loss to Murray State on Friday. The Salukis have lost two of their last three games, though they secured a 54-50 road win at Illinois State on Feb. 3. Indiana State enters on a high note following an 84-63 road victory at Evansville last Tuesday. That win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Sycamores. A key matchup will feature Southern Illinois guard Quel’Ron House against Indiana State forward Markus Harding. House is coming off a 26-point performance in 35 minutes against Murray State and has averaged 16.4 points over his last five games. Harding led the Sycamores with 18 points in the win over Evansville, providing a needed spark after a quiet three-game stretch. In their last outing, Southern Illinois relied heavily on House, Rolyns Aligbe (18 points) and Prince Aligbe (15 points) for scoring. Indiana State’s victory over Evansville saw Harding and Enel St. Bernard each score 18 points, with Camp Wagner adding eight points and six assists. The teams will meet again in Carbondale on Feb. 25. Southern Illinois hosts Evansville next on Thursday. Indiana State continues its homestand against Murray State on Thursday.
