Preview: Ohio State Buckeyes at Maryland Terrapins COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Interstat) — The Ohio State Buckeyes look to rebound from a tough road loss when they visit the struggling Maryland Terrapins in a Big Ten Conference men’s basketball matchup Thursday afternoon at Xfinity Center. Ohio State (14-7) arrives after falling 92-82 at Wisconsin on Saturday, despite 18 points each from Amare Bynum and Bruce Thornton. The Buckeyes had won three of their previous four, including an 84-78 home victory over Penn State on Jan. 26. Maryland (7-13) seeks to end a four-game skid, most recently a 93-63 home defeat to Purdue on Sunday. The Terrapins’ last win was a 96-73 rout of Penn State on Jan. 18. The game features a contrast in momentum and a matchup of key wings. Ohio State’s Bynum has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 16.3 points over his last four games, including a 20-point performance at Washington on Jan. 11. For Maryland, Andre Mills is coming off one of his best games of the season, posting 18 points, six rebounds and three assists against Purdue’s formidable frontcourt. The Buckeyes have shown balance, with Devin Royal adding 16 points and six rebounds against Wisconsin. Maryland will need more from its supporting cast behind Mills and Darius Adams, who scored 17 against Purdue. Historically, games at the raucous Xfinity Center have been challenging for visitors, but Maryland has yet to win a conference game at home this season (0-5). Ohio State, however, is just 3-4 in true road games. A victory would keep Ohio State in the upper tier of the Big Ten standings, while Maryland desperately needs a signature conference win to build any postseason momentum.
