Preview: Struggling Huskies Face Surging Pride in Colonial Clash STEWART MANOR, N.Y. (Interstat) — A surging Hofstra squad will look to solidify its standing in the Colonial Athletic Association when it hosts a reeling Northeastern team on Thursday night at Mack Sports Complex. The Pride (14-9) enter the matchup having won three of their last four, including a convincing 73-57 road victory at Monmouth last Saturday. Hofstra’s success has been fueled by guard Cruz Davis, who is averaging 21.6 points over his last seven games. He scored 24 points in the win over Monmouth and has topped 30 points twice in that stretch. Northeastern (6-15) is mired in a difficult season and has lost five of its last six games. The Huskies fell 89-84 to College of Charleston at home last Saturday despite a career-high 36 points from sophomore guard William Kermoury. Kermoury has emerged as a bright spot, averaging 22.1 points over his last seven contests. He will need another high-output performance to keep pace with Hofstra. In the Jan. 31 loss, Kermoury was supported by Luca Soroa Schaller, who posted a unique 13-point, 15-rebound, 6-assist line, and Mike Loughnane, who added 24 points. Generating similar complementary scoring will be crucial for the Huskies. Hofstra’s interior presents a significant challenge, highlighted by center Silas Sunday’s 12-point, 10-rebound double-double against Monmouth. The Pride have shown resilience, with four of their nine losses this season coming by five points or fewer. The teams will meet again in Boston on Feb. 21, but Thursday’s contest carries immediate weight. Hofstra aims to continue its push toward the top of the conference standings, while Northeastern desperately seeks a turnaround to salvage its season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Hofstra’s next game is at home against Towson on Saturday. Northeastern travels to face Stony Brook on Saturday.
