Preview: Morehead State Eagles at Southeast Missouri State Redhawks CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (Interstat) — A tightly contested Ohio Valley Conference race brings the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and Morehead State Eagles to the Show Me Center on Thursday night, with both teams looking to gain ground in the league standings. The Redhawks (13-10 overall) enter with momentum, having won four of their last five games, including a dominant 77-59 road victory at Eastern Illinois on Jan. 31. They are led by standout Brendan Terry, who is coming off a complete performance with 22 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks in that win. Terry averages 14.2 points per game and will be a focal point for the Redhawks’ offense. Morehead State (12-11) looks to rebound from a narrow 79-78 home loss to Lindenwood last Saturday. In that game, Jon Carroll contributed nine points and eight rebounds. Carroll has been a key contributor for the Eagles, including a 22-point outing in an overtime loss at Tennessee State on Jan. 15. This matchup is a quick rematch of a Jan. 10 thriller, which Morehead State won 71-69 at home. Carroll had six points and a block for the Eagles in that victory, while Terry scored 13 points for the Redhawks. The game features two of the OVC’s middle-tier teams battling for positioning. Southeast Missouri State has found success recently with a strong home-court advantage at the Show Me Center, where they are 8-3 this season. Morehead State has struggled on the road, posting a 3-7 record away from home. Defense and rebounding will likely be decisive. The Eagles will need to contain Terry’s multifaceted game, while the Redhawks must account for Carroll’s consistency and the scoring of Chase Dawson, who had 16 points in the last meeting. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Southeast Missouri State hosts Southern Indiana next on Saturday, while Morehead State travels to Tennessee-Martin.
