Preview: Sacred Heart at Quinnipiac in Metro Atlantic Action HAMDEN, Conn. (Interstat) â The Quinnipiac Bobcats will look to complete a regular-season sweep and solidify their standing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference when they host the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats (14-8) defeated the Pioneers (9-13) 70-60 in Fairfield just over two weeks ago on Jan. 11. In that contest, Quinnipiacâs Amarri Monroe recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Sacred Heartâs Dashon Gittens was held to seven points. Both teams are coming off narrow results in their last outings, but with opposite fortunes. Quinnipiac fell 71-64 at Marist on Saturday, despite 14 points and 11 rebounds from Monroe. Sacred Heart edged Niagara 71-70 on the same day, fueled by 19 points and six assists from Gittens. The Pioneers have shown recent resilience, winning three of their last four games, including a 105-85 road victory at Rider on Jan. 19 where Gittens posted 25 points and 10 rebounds. The junior guard has been a catalyst, averaging 17.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists over his last eight games. Quinnipiac has been inconsistent in conference play, alternating wins and losses over its last six MAAC games. Monroe, a consistent force in the frontcourt, has averaged a double-double (14.9 points, 10.1 rebounds) in that same eight-game span dating to Jan. 2. The matchup hinges on tempo and rebounding. Quinnipiac controlled the glass in the first meeting and will rely on Monroe and Keith McKnight (15 points, 7 rebounds vs. Marist) to dominate inside again. Sacred Heartâs recent surge has been powered by improved offensive flow, with Gittens and backcourt mate Mekhi Conner facilitating. Containing Gittens will be a primary focus for the Bobcatsâ defense. Fridayâs game is the second of two scheduled meetings this season between the Connecticut foes. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST.
