Preview: Boise State Broncos at Grand Canyon Antelopes PHOENIX (Interstat) ā A quick rematch with significant conference implications is set for Friday night when the Boise State Broncos visit the Grand Canyon Antelopes at GCU Arena. Just over three weeks after Grand Canyon (12-7) handed Boise State (13-8) a decisive 75-58 defeat on the Broncosā home floor, the teams will reconvene in Phoenix. The Jan. 7 result gives the Antelopes a mental edge, but both squads have navigated inconsistent stretches since. The Broncos arrive riding a four-game winning streak, including an 89-58 road rout of San Jose State on Tuesday. Boise State has found its offensive rhythm during the streak, averaging 86.8 points per game in those victories after a three-game skid in early January. A key catalyst has been forward Drew Fielder. Over the last three games, he is averaging 17 points while shooting efficiently. He scored 16 points in 24 minutes against San Jose State after a 20-point performance against Air Force. However, Fielder was held to 10 points in the first meeting with Grand Canyon. The Antelopes look to rebound from a 66-60 overtime road loss at Nevada on Tuesday. Grand Canyon has alternated wins and losses in its last five outings. In the Jan. 7 win at Boise State, the Antelopesā defense was stifling, forcing 15 turnovers and limiting the Broncos to 32.8% shooting from the field. Grand Canyonās Efe Demirel, who scored 13 points with two blocks in the first matchup, is coming off a 37-minute, 14-point effort at Nevada. His interior presence will be pivotal against a Boise State frontcourt seeking redemption. The game features two teams jockeying for position in a competitive conference landscape. Boise Stateās recent surge has been fueled by improved ball movement and scoring balance, with Andrew Meadow and Dylan Andrews providing consistent support alongside Fielder. Grand Canyon will rely on its home-court advantage, where it is 8-2 this season, and a defense that has proven capable of disrupting the Broncos. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST at the sold-out, raucous GCU Arena. The Broncosā next game is at home against Nevada on Feb. 3, while Grand Canyon hosts Air Force on the same date.
