LOUIS (Interstat) — A surging Saint Louis squad, boasting one of the nation’s most impressive records, will look to continue its dominant run when it hosts a streaky George Washington team in an Atlantic 10 Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens (19-1, 8-0 A-10) have won 12 consecutive games, most recently a 97-62 road rout of Saint Bonaventure on Jan. 23. Their lone loss came in mid-December. Saint Louis is led by guard Ishan Sharma, who is coming off a 29-point performance in just 23 minutes against the Bonnies. Sharma has averaged 15.4 points over his last seven contests, providing efficient scoring punch. George Washington (13-7, 4-4) arrives after an 85-69 home victory over Richmond on Saturday, snapping a two-game skid. The Revolutionaries have shown a high ceiling, including a 101-point outing earlier this month, but have struggled with consistency in conference play. A key matchup will feature Sharma against George Washington’s versatile guard Jean Aranguren. Aranguren filled the stat sheet with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists in the win over Richmond, embodying the all-around game the Revolutionaries need to challenge the conference front-runner. Saint Louis has dominated A-10 play, winning by an average of 19.6 points in its eight league games. George Washington, meanwhile, is 1-3 in true road games this season. The Billikens won both meetings last season. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CST Tuesday. Saint Louis will next host Dayton on Friday, while George Washington returns home to face Fordham on Saturday.
