RENO, Nev. (Interstat) — A pivotal Mountain West Conference clash is set for Tuesday night when the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit the Nevada Wolf Pack at Lawlor Events Center. Both teams enter with momentum from winning records, though they arrive on different trajectories. Nevada (14-6) looks to rebound at home after a 73-80 road loss at New Mexico last Saturday. The Wolf Pack have been strong in Reno, boasting a 9-1 record at home this season. Grand Canyon (12-6) carries a two-game winning streak, most recently edging San Diego State 70-69 last Wednesday on a last-second shot. The Antelopes have shown resilience, winning four of their last six contests. The matchup features two of the conference’s standout performers. Grand Canyon will lean on guard Jaden Henley, who is averaging 15.3 points per game over his last seven contests. He scored 22 points in a road win at Boise State earlier this month and posted 17 points and 7 rebounds in the victory over San Diego State. For Nevada, forward Elijah Price presents a formidable challenge in the paint. Price is a defensive force, recording six blocks in the loss to New Mexico and averaging 3.4 blocks per game over his last five outings. He also contributes offensively, scoring 20 points in a win over Wyoming on Jan. 10. The game is a critical early conference test for both squads as they jockey for position in the Mountain West standings. Nevada currently holds a two-game edge in the win column. Grand Canyon’s success has been fueled by its backcourt, while Nevada’s strength lies in its interior defense, anchored by Price. Following this game, Nevada will prepare for a rivalry matchup against UNLV on Friday. Grand Canyon returns home to host Boise State on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
