Boise State Looks to Extend Win Streak at San Jose State SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — The Boise State Broncos aim to continue their climb in the Mountain West standings when they visit the struggling San Jose State Spartans on Tuesday night at the Event Center. Boise State (12-8) enters on a three-game winning streak, including a dominant 96-54 home victory over Air Force on Saturday. The Broncos have found momentum after a challenging stretch in early January that included four losses in five games, three of which were by single digits or in overtime. The Spartans (6-14) have lost three of their last four and are seeking consistency in conference play. Their lone win in that span was a 70-62 home victory over Air Force on Jan. 13. A key player to watch for the Broncos is Spencer Ahrens, who is coming off a season-high 18-point performance in 26 minutes against Air Force. Over his last five games, Ahrens has averaged 9.2 points and shown increased offensive production for a Boise State team that has scored 79 or more points in each game during its current win streak. San Jose State will rely on forward Sadraque NgaNga, who leads the team in scoring in conference games. NgaNga posted 14 points and six rebounds in a narrow 66-62 loss at Wyoming on Saturday. His activity on both ends will be crucial against a physical Boise State frontcourt. The Broncos won both meetings last season, including a 77-57 victory in San Jose. Boise State holds a commanding 30-6 advantage in the all-time series. Tuesday’s contest begins a critical two-game road trip for Boise State, which visits Grand Canyon on Friday. San Jose State continues a homestand against New Mexico on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. PST.
