Guard Marvin McGhee, coming off a 17-point performance against Houston Christian, has been central to UTRGV’s recent surge. He averaged 17.7 points over the last three contests after being held to just two points in the loss to the Islanders earlier this month. Both teams are knotted at 4-3 in the conference standings, making this a pivotal matchup in the crowded Southland race. The Islanders have relied on a defense that allows just 64.1 points per game in conference play. The Vaqueros, who have shown improved offensive form lately, will need to solve that defense to avenge the earlier loss. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. CST.
