DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — A surging Bethune-Cookman squad will look to continue its climb in the SWAC standings when it hosts struggling Alcorn State in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Monday at Moore Gymnasium. The Wildcats (8-11, 4-2 SWAC) have won three consecutive conference games, most recently a dominant 85-48 victory over Jackson State on Saturday. They are led by forward Doctor Bradley, who posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds in that win. Bradley has averaged 17.3 points over his last three games, providing consistent production for a team finding its rhythm in league play. Meanwhile, the Braves (3-15, 2-4) aim to halt a two-game skid after falling 66-58 at Florida A&M. Alcorn State has shown flashes, including a narrow 76-75 home win over Prairie View on Jan. 19, but consistency has been elusive. Guard Tycen McDaniels has been a bright spot, scoring 20 points in the loss to Florida A&M and averaging 14.4 points over his last seven contests. His scoring punch will be vital for an offense that has struggled at times. Bethune-Cookman’s recent success has been fueled by improved defense, holding opponents to an average of 63.3 points during its three-game win streak. Alcorn State, conversely, has allowed 81.5 points per game in its four SWAC losses this season. The Wildcats won both meetings last season. Monday’s contest is the first of two regular-season matchups between the teams, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 14 in Lorman, Mississippi. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
