CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Austin Peay Governors will look to solidify their standing near the top of the ASUN Conference when they host the struggling Stetson Hatters on Friday afternoon at the Winfield Dunn Center. Austin Peay (12-6, 4-1 ASUN) enters on a strong run, having won five of its last six games, including an 83-62 victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday. The Governors previously defeated Stetson 81-69 on the road just two weeks ago on Jan. 10. In that game, Rashaud Marshall scored 12 points with seven rebounds and three assists for Austin Peay. Marshall, a key player for the Governors, is averaging 17.3 points over his last three contests. Stetson (7-13, 2-4) arrives in Clarksville after a draining 79-74 overtime loss at Lipscomb on Thursday, its second consecutive defeat. Despite the loss, forward Collin Kuhl turned in a monumental performance, logging 40 minutes and posting 22 points and 14 rebounds. Kuhl has been a bright spot for the Hatters, averaging 20.7 points and 10.0 rebounds over his last three games. He scored 18 points in the earlier loss to Austin Peay this month. The Governors have been dominant at home this season, boasting a 9-1 record in Clarksville. Their defense will be tested by Kuhl, but they possess a more balanced and consistent attack. Stetson, which has lost eight of its last 11, will need to find secondary scoring behind Kuhl to keep pace. Friday’s matchup is a quick turnaround for both teams, but particularly for Stetson, which played an overtime game less than 24 hours before tip-off. Austin Peay will aim to exploit any fatigue and complete the regular-season sweep. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. CST start. Following this contest, Austin Peay travels to face Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 28, while Stetson’s next game is at North Florida on Jan. 29.
