(Interstat) — A surging Tennessee-Martin squad looks to extend its winning streak when it visits a struggling Southeast Missouri State team in an Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at the Show Me Center. The Skyhawks (15-4) enter on a seven-game win streak, most recently defeating Lindenwood 69-55 on Saturday. The Redhawks (9-10) have lost three straight, including a 68-55 home loss to SIU Edwardsville the same day. Tennessee-Martin has dominated conference play, boasting a 6-0 OVC record. Their success is built on defense, holding opponents to an average of 60.3 points during the streak. Forward Matas Deniusas has been a key two-way contributor, averaging 11.8 points over the last six games and blocking four shots in the win over Lindenwood. Southeast Missouri State, sitting at 3-3 in the OVC, seeks to stabilize after its recent skid. Guard Braxton Stacker, who scored 15 points in a conference-opening win over Eastern Illinois on Jan. 1, will be relied upon to spark the offense. The Redhawks have shown offensive capability, scoring 84 points in a road win at Southern Indiana on Jan. 8, but consistency has been an issue. The teams’ contrasting trajectories set the stage. Tennessee-Martin, with one of the best overall records in the conference, aims to protect its perfect OVC mark. Southeast Missouri State, hovering near .500, desperately needs a signature win to turn its season around before a challenging stretch of conference road games later this month. This is the first of two regular-season meetings between the Skyhawks and Redhawks. They will meet again in Martin, Tennessee, on Feb. 17. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Tuesday.
