(Interstat) — A surging Clemson team riding a seven-game winning streak will host an inconsistent North Carolina State squad in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball clash Tuesday night at the Bi-Lo Center. The Tigers (16-3), among the conference leaders, have not lost since a narrow road defeat at BYU on Dec. 9. Their current run includes ACC victories over Miami, Boston College, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh. Clemson’s success has been built on balanced scoring and steady guard play from Dillon Hunter, who is averaging 7.7 points and 4.8 assists over the last six games. The Wolfpack (12-6), meanwhile, have alternated wins and losses over their past five contests. They are coming off a 78-74 home loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday, which snapped a two-game win streak. NC State’s fortunes often hinge on the dynamic play of guard Quadir Copeland, who is coming off a 16-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance against the Yellow Jackets. Over his last five games, Copeland is averaging 12.6 points and 6.8 assists. Clemson won last season’s lone meeting, 78-64, in Raleigh. The Tigers’ defense, which has held opponents to 62.6 points per game during their win streak, will be tested by a Wolfpack offense that scored 113 points in a rout of Florida State on Jan. 10 but was held to 61 in a loss to Virginia.
