ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Interstat) — A surging Michigan team riding a six-game winning streak will host a reeling Indiana squad seeking to end a three-game skid when the Big Ten rivals meet Tuesday night at Crisler Center. The Wolverines (16-1, 5-1 Big Ten) have established themselves as national contenders, their only loss a 91-88 home defeat to Wisconsin on Jan. 10. Since then, Michigan has won four straight, including an 81-71 road victory at Oregon last Saturday. Elliot Cadeau leads a balanced attack, averaging 12.6 points and 4.6 assists. The guard scored 17 points with five assists against the Ducks. Indiana (12-6, 2-4) arrives in Ann Arbor after a dispiriting 74-57 home loss to Iowa, its third consecutive defeat following losses to Michigan State and Nebraska. The Hoosiers’ early conference struggles have dampened the optimism from a 10-3 non-conference start. Guard Tayton Conerway is a key for Indiana, though his production has fluctuated. After a 30-point effort against Maryland on Jan. 7, he was held to five points at Michigan State and scored 16 in the loss to Iowa. His ability to penetrate and create will be critical against Michigan’s stout defense. Michigan has dominated at home, winning by an average of 32.2 points in Ann Arbor this season. Their offense, which averages 89.2 points per game, will test an Indiana defense that has allowed 77.3 points per game during its losing streak. The Wolverines won both meetings last season. Indiana’s last win in the series was an 80-76 overtime victory at Crisler Center on Jan. 23, 2023. Following this game, Michigan hosts Ohio State on Friday. Indiana travels to Rutgers on Friday.
