INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — A pair of teams riding the momentum of significant conference wins will meet Tuesday when the DePaul Blue Demons visit the Butler Bulldogs in a pivotal Big East matchup at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Both teams enter with identical 11-7 overall records, seeking to build on their most recent performances. DePaul is coming off an 80-75 home victory over then-Marquette last Friday, while Butler secured a 77-66 road win at Seton Hall on Saturday. The game features two of the conference’s hottest scorers. DePaul will rely on senior guard CJ Gunn, who is averaging 16.4 points per game and is fresh off a career-high 31-point performance in the upset of Marquette. Over his last five games, Gunn has scored 20 or more points three times. Butler counters with junior guard Finley Bizjack, who poured in 25 points in the win at Seton Hall. Bizjack has been a consistent offensive force, scoring in double figures in nine consecutive games and averaging 16.3 points over his last six outings. The Bulldogs will look to protect their home court, where they are 8-2 this season, including a key non-conference win over Northwestern. DePaul, however, has shown resilience on the road, with victories at Wichita State and a narrow loss at Villanova in late December. Historically, Butler holds a commanding advantage in the series, having won 15 of the last 16 meetings. The Bulldogs won both matchups last season. Tuesday’s contest is critical for both teams’ postseason aspirations as they sit in the middle of a crowded Big East standings race. The winner will gain a valuable conference victory and sole possession of the .500 mark in league play. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
