HACKENSACK, N.J. (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams seeking to reverse recent slides will meet Monday when the Wagner Seahawks visit the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights in a Northeast Conference matchup at Rothman Center. Wagner (6-10, 1-4 NEC) enters on a four-game losing streak, with three of those defeats by three points or fewer. The Seahawks are coming off a 80-74 road loss to New Haven on Saturday. Jaden Baker led Wagner with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists in that contest, continuing a run of strong play. Over his last seven games, Baker is averaging 11.0 points and 3.1 assists per game. Fairleigh Dickinson (5-12, 2-3) has also struggled, dropping four of its last five. The Knights fell 65-55 at New Haven in their most recent outing on Jan. 10. Forward Taeshaud Jackson has been a consistent bright spot, averaging a double-double in NEC play. He posted 17 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Chicago State on Jan. 8 and followed with a 16-point, 9-rebound effort in a narrow loss at Saint Francis (Pa.). The game features two of the lower-scoring offenses in the conference, placing a premium on defense and rebounding. Jackson’s interior presence for the Knights will challenge a Wagner team that has been outrebounded in most of its conference losses. The Seahawks will rely on Baker’s backcourt creation and scoring from Nick Jones, who had a team-high 20 points against New Haven. This is the first of two regular-season meetings between the in-conference foes. They will play again on Jan. 31 at Wagner’s Spiro Sports Center. Both teams are looking to gain traction in the NEC standings before the schedule reaches its midpoint. Wagner visits Le Moyne next on Friday. Fairleigh Dickinson travels to face Central Connecticut on Friday.
