Struggling Roadrunners Face Tigers in AAC Matchup MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Memphis Tigers look to climb back to .500 in American Athletic Conference play when they host the reeling UTSA Roadrunners on Sunday at FedExForum. Memphis (8-8, 2-3 AAC) is coming off a gritty 55-53 home win over Temple on Wednesday, where freshman guard Curtis Givens led the way with 12 points. Givens has been a key contributor, averaging 13.3 points over his last three games, including an 18-point performance in a loss to Mississippi State last month. The Tigers’ season has been marked by inconsistency, mixing a ranked win over Baylor with double-digit losses to Louisville and Florida Atlantic. Their defense, however, has shown flashes, holding three of their last five opponents under 72 points. They face a UTSA team (4-13, 0-5) desperate for its first conference win. The Roadrunners have lost nine straight games, most recently an 89-73 defeat to Rice on Wednesday. Their defense has been a major issue, allowing an average of 86.2 points during the skid. UTSA’s hopes will lean heavily on forward Baboucarr Njie, who is coming off a career-high 23-point, three-block effort against Rice. Njie has averaged 13.3 points over his last three contests, providing a bright spot in a difficult season. The Roadrunners have struggled mightily on the road, going 0-7, with those losses coming by an average margin of 26.7 points. Memphis is 6-3 at home this season. This is the first meeting between the programs as AAC conference foes. Tipoff is set for Sunday afternoon.
