ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Interstat) — A surging Navy squad looks to continue its strong start to Patriot League play when it hosts a struggling Bucknell team on Wednesday night at Alumni Hall. The Midshipmen (10-5) enter with momentum, having won five straight games, including their first two conference matchups against Boston University and Holy Cross. Navy’s success has been fueled by a dominant inside presence and efficient offense, averaging 75.2 points during the win streak. Forward Aidan Kehoe has been central to Navy’s surge. The sophomore is coming off an 18-point, 9-rebound performance in the win at Holy Cross and recorded a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double against BU. He provides a formidable challenge for any opponent in the paint. Bucknell (4-11) snapped a six-game skid with a 72-65 home victory over Lehigh on Saturday. The Bison will need a similar effort to challenge the Midshipmen on the road, where they are 1-7 this season. The Bison will rely on forward Ruot Bijiek, who scored a team-high 20 points in the win over Lehigh. His consistent scoring and defensive activity will be crucial for a Bucknell team that has struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in seven games this season. Navy holds a distinct advantage in recent form and on its home court. The Midshipmen’s defense, which has held opponents to an average of 55.2 points during the winning streak, will test a Bucknell offense averaging just 62.1 points per game. This is the first of two regular-season meetings between the programs, with the rematch scheduled for Feb. 9 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST as Navy aims to solidify its early position atop the league standings.
