Preview: SMU at Clemson in ACC Menās Basketball GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) ā A high-stakes Atlantic Coast Conference matchup between two of the leagueās hottest teams will tip off Wednesday when the SMU Mustangs visit the Clemson Tigers at the Bi-Lo Center. Both teams carry identical 12-win records and significant momentum into the contest. SMU (12-2) arrives riding a three-game winning streak, most recently a decisive 97-83 victory over North Carolina this past Saturday. Clemson (12-3) has won five straight, including a 73-68 road win at Pittsburgh on Jan. 3. The game features a compelling clash of backcourt stars. SMUās Boopie Miller is playing at an elite level, coming off a 27-point, 12-assist performance against the Tar Heels. Over his last three games, the dynamic guard has averaged 21.3 points and 10.7 assists. He will be the primary focus of a Clemson defense that has held four of its last five opponents under 70 points. Clemson counters with its own standout guard, Jestin Porter. He led the Tigers with 21 points in the win at Pittsburgh and has been a consistent scorer during their streak, reaching double figures in five of the last six games. His backcourt battle with Miller will be pivotal. SMUās offense has been explosive, scoring 97 or more points in three of its last four outings. Alongside Miller, Corey Washington (23 points vs. North Carolina) and BJ Edwards provide additional scoring punch. The Mustangsā only losses this season came on the road at LSU and Vanderbilt. Clemson has relied on a balanced attack and stout defense. Forward Carter Welling is coming off a 10-rebound, two-block effort, and Nick Davidson added 14 points off the bench against Pitt. The Tigersā last home game was a 68-65 win over Cincinnati on Dec. 21. This marks a key early conference test for both programs. SMU will look to prove its potent offense can travel against a disciplined ACC opponent, while Clemson aims to protect its home floor and extend its winning streak. The outcome could have early implications for the conference standings as the league schedule intensifies. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.
