BOISE, Idaho (Interstat) — Two teams looking to rebound from tough conference losses meet Wednesday when the Grand Canyon Antelopes visit the Boise State Broncos at Taco Bell Arena. Grand Canyon (8-5) enters after a 70-60 home loss to Colorado State on Saturday, which snapped a three-game winning streak. The Antelopes have been strong offensively during their recent stretch, averaging 81.3 points in their last four games. A key to that surge has been guard Makaih Williams, who is averaging 17.3 points over his last four contests. He scored 22 in the loss to Colorado State. Forward Nana Owusu-Anane, who had 13 points and two blocks against the Rams, provides an interior presence. Boise State (9-5) is coming off a heartbreaking 110-107 triple-overtime road defeat at San Diego State on Saturday. The Broncos showed resilience in the marathon contest, led by guard Javan Buchanan’s season-high 29 points and six assists. Buchanan’s performance highlighted his explosive potential, though he has been inconsistent, scoring four and two points in his two previous games. The Broncos have defended their home court well, posting a 6-1 record at Taco Bell Arena this season. Their only home loss came against then-North Carolina State in November. This nonconference matchup features teams with similar profiles, both seeking momentum as their conference schedules intensify. Grand Canyon will aim to control the tempo with its scoring balance, while Boise State will rely on its stout home defense and hope for another high-level performance from Buchanan. The teams are scheduled to meet again in conference play on Jan. 30 in Phoenix. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST Wednesday.
