Preview: Stephen F. Austin Looks to Extend Win Streak at Texas A&M-Commerce COMMERCE, Texas (Interstat) — A surging Stephen F. Austin men’s basketball team will look to close its non-conference schedule on a high note when it visits Texas A&M-Commerce on Monday night at the Texas A&M-Commerce Field House. The Lumberjacks (9-2) enter on a four-game winning streak, including a dominant 103-55 victory over Dallas on Dec. 21. They have won eight of their last nine, with the only loss in that stretch a narrow 66-61 defeat at Texas-Arlington. Stephen F. Austin is led by guard Keon Thompson, who has been a model of efficiency. Over his last four games, Thompson is averaging 15.8 points and 5.8 assists per contest while shooting 50% from the field. In the win over Dallas, he tallied 14 points, five rebounds and eight assists in just 17 minutes. The Lions (6-6) have experienced a streaky start, alternating wins and losses over their past six games. They are coming off a 118-77 road loss to Texas A&M on Dec. 21, a game in which guard Ronnie Harrison scored 23 points. Harrison has been a consistent offensive threat for Commerce, scoring in double figures in nine of 12 games this season. He averages a team-high 15.1 points per game and is coming off a stretch where he averaged 19.2 points over his last five contests. The matchup pits Stephen F. Austin’s high-powered offense, which averages 82.5 points per game, against a Commerce defense allowing 78.8 points per contest. The Lumberjacks have topped 90 points five times this season. This game serves as the final non-conference tune-up for both programs before Southland Conference play begins next week. Stephen F. Austin will visit Northwestern State on Wednesday, while Texas A&M-Commerce will host Lamar. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST Monday.
