STILLWATER, Okla. (Interstat) — A surging Oklahoma State looks to close its non-conference schedule with a dominant finish when it hosts struggling Bethune-Cookman at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Monday. The Cowboys (11-1) have won five of their last six, with their lone loss a 76-85 setback to in-state rival Oklahoma on Dec. 13. They are coming off a 94-89 home victory over Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 21, where a balanced scoring attack proved decisive. Guard Christian Coleman has been a consistent force for Oklahoma State, scoring 20 points in each of his last two games and averaging 17.3 points over his last four contests. His backcourt mate, Anthony Roy, led the team with 22 points against Cal State Fullerton. Bethune-Cookman (3-9) enters on a three-game losing streak, all by double digits on the road, including a 71-107 defeat at Arizona on Dec. 22. The Wildcats have faced a rigorous early schedule, with all nine losses coming against power-conference opponents or Saint Louis. Guard Quentin Heady will be a key for the Wildcats. He logged a team-high 33 minutes and scored 13 points in the loss at Arizona. Jordan Johnson added 18 points off the bench in that game, providing a spark. The matchup pits one of the nation’s top early-season records against a team seeking a signature win before entering SWAC play. Oklahoma State’s offense, averaging 88.8 points per game, will test a Bethune-Cookman defense that has allowed an average of 92.5 points during its current skid. For Oklahoma State, this is a final tune-up before opening Big 12 Conference play at Texas Tech on Jan. 3. Bethune-Cookman begins its SWAC schedule at home against Florida A&M on Jan. 3. Tipoff is set for Monday night at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena.
