GREENSBORO, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging UNC Wilmington team visits Corbett Sports Center on Monday to face North Carolina A&T in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup organized by the Colonial Athletic Association. The Seahawks (11-2) enter on a high note, coming off a dominant 100-56 victory over Columbia on Saturday. That win showcased a balanced attack, with Madison Durr scoring 17 points, Gavin Walsh adding 16 and Nolan Hodge contributing 17. UNC Wilmington has won eight of its last nine games, with the only blemish a narrow 67-66 home loss to Howard on Dec. 20. Durr, a key guard, has been consistently productive. He is averaging 11.2 points over his last five games, including a 17-point, five-assist performance against Columbia. The Seahawks’ offense has been potent, scoring 85 or more points in four of their 11 wins. The Aggies (7-4) have won three straight, most recently a 95-55 rout of Mid-Atlantic Christian on Dec. 20. Forward KJ Debrick recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds in that win, part of a strong defensive stretch where he has blocked 13 shots over his last five games. North Carolina A&T’s recent success includes a 71-65 road win at UNC Greensboro. This game represents a final nonconference tune-up for both programs before CAA play begins later this week. UNC Wilmington will host Drexel on Wednesday, while North Carolina A&T will host Northeastern the same day. The Aggies will need their interior defense, led by Debrick, to contain a versatile Seahawks offense. Conversely, UNC Wilmington must navigate a hostile road environment against an Aggies team that has shown resilience, particularly in close victories over Maryland-Eastern Shore and UNC Greensboro this month. Tip-off is set for Monday, Dec. 29, at Corbett Sports Center.
